College management recently shared a document entitled “Decision-Making Criteria for Selection of Courses to Transition to On-Line” with many faculty.

OPSEU Local 417 holds that significant changes to program and course delivery during the second wave of a pandemic and at the onset of a bargaining year is not in the best interest of its membership.

Concerns regarding this document include

  • intellectual property rights and copyright,
  • collegial governance,
  • the role of faculty developing course content and delivery in a transition to online teaching,
  • professor/instructor/facilitator roles and salaries,
  • the Partial Load Registry, and more.

OPSEU Local 417 endeavours to work for good full-time jobs (with security and benefits) for faculty and strives to ensure a future of quality education overall.

In response to the above-mentioned document, OPSEU Local 417 sent the following letter to St. Lawrence College and continues to engage in ongoing discussions with management about this issue:
