BARGAINING 2021

Below you will find the bargaining team’s initial video outlining our shared vision for this round of negotiations.

Our vision is rooted firmly in college faculty’s commitment to transparent and democratic processes that lead to a shared set of demands reflecting our core issues.

Our demands are grounded in foundational principles: a commitment to building a learning environment that is inclusive and accessible to our students, as well as one that reflects academic quality as our core value and responsibility. Further, this learning environment is about fairness and equity for both our students and our colleagues.

Please continue to scroll below to find current updates and the bargaining timeline.

As many of you may recall, the top demand coming out of the final demand setting meeting in April was around workload.  This is an ongoing issue in our negotiations, and the conditions brought on by the pandemic, rapid expansion of online learning, microcredentials, inequality, and maximization have only heightened the need to make gains this round.

In the video below, we summarize and highlight some of the key concerns members have brought forward.

In keeping with our commitment to ongoing communication, the following consultative processes are set to occur around two key areas our members have brought forward in their demands:

1) Equity Seeking Group Town Hall (via Zoom) with the Bargaining Team – June 25th,  10:00 – 11:30 am

We invite faculty (Professors, Counsellors, Librarians, Instructors) from equity-seeking groups from all 24 colleges, to join us in a discussion focused on the barriers to access, opportunity and resources experienced in the college system. We would like to provide space to discuss our approach in the upcoming bargaining to ensure they represent your demands. We really hope you will join us, your input is essential.

*This event requires pre-registration at the link below.  The link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to the email you provide 1 hour before the event.

2) Indigenous Caucus (via Zoom) with the Bargaining Team – June 28th 12:00 – 1:30pm.

We invite Indigenous faculty (Professors, Counsellors, Librarians, Instructors) from all 24 colleges, to join us in a discussion focussed on the barriers to access, opportunity and resources experienced by Indigenous faculty in the college system. We would like to discuss how our strategies and language in the upcoming bargaining can better represent First Nations, Metis and Inuit concerns. We really hope you will join us, your input is essential.
