As you all know we are in a year of collective bargaining with the College Employer Council. They have made their first move by offering an extension of two years with a 1% increase.

The Local Presidents and the Bargaining Advisory Commitee were apprised of this offer last week. The offer was rejected by the Local Presidents, the Bargaining Advisory Committee, and the Bargaining Team. The letter included here is from your Bargaining Team and details its position.

Your Local Executive Committee is in total agreement this action. Should you have any questions on the reasons why, or the process please don’t hesitate to contact me.

This is no doubt a very difficult year to bargain–but bargain we must. As we said three years ago and for so many reasons, we bargain for all of us or none of us.

In Solidarity,

Grant Currie

President, OPSEU Local 417
